NASA’s New Heat Shield Could Get Humans On Mars

NASA is one step closer to sending man to Mars with its latest heat-shield concept, named ADEPT, or Adaptive Deployable Entry and Placement Technology.

To put it in NASA terms, “The objective of ADEPT is to develop a semi-rigid low ballistic coefficient aeroshell entry system concept to perform and entry descent landing (EDL) functions for planetary missions.”

Alabama may be winning a ‘new War Between the States’

In recruitment of new industry, Alabama appears to be winning a “new War Between the States,” according to a Hearst newspapers report.

The Heart of Dixie and “other development-minded states” are winning this new war because of low sales and income taxes and right-to-work laws that hinder the formation of labor unions.

Alabama was ranked No. 2 by Business Facilities in auto manufacturing and workforce development.

Daimler’s Self-Driving Truck Hits the Highway in Germany

BERLIN-German automaker Daimler said it trialed a self-driving truck under real traffic conditions for the first time Friday, on a motorway in southern Germany.

The truck has smart systems including radar, cameras and active speed regulators and works without a human driver–although someone has to be in the driver’s seat and take the wheel if necessary.
