Game-changing Alabama projects claim investment awards

MONTGOMERY, Alabama – A national trade publication selected three 2015 Alabama economic development projects, valued at a combined $2 billion, for its elite investment awards, reflecting the powerful impact of these collaborative recruitment efforts.

Editors at Trade & Industry Development magazine evaluated hundreds of projects from across the U.S. before selecting the 30 winners of its 2016 Corporate Investment & Community Impact Awards. It’s the 11th year the publication has handed out its CiCi awards.

Boeing Consolidates 747, 767 Programs in Management Shuffle

Boeing Co. reorganized leadership in its commercial airplane division as the company cuts costs and slows production of the 747 jumbo jet.

Elizabeth Lund, general manager of the 777 program, will also oversee a combined operation for the 747 and 767 aircraft, Ray Conner, head of the commercial unit, said Tuesday in a memo to employees. The general managers of the 747 and 767 programs will assume new roles reporting to Lund.

20 Automakers Pledge Crash-Avoidance Braking by 2022

Twenty major automakers will announce a voluntarily agreement to equip cars and trucks with automatic emergency-braking systems designed to detect and prevent crashes without driver action, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The agreement, expected to be announced Thursday, will specify that almost all U.S. cars and trucks will include the technology by 2022, said two other people who have been briefed on the announcement.
