One company employs just 20 people but it is in a second century of operation in Baldwin County.
A second company employs 185 workers and is 36 years old and calls Hoover home.
A third company employs over 4,000 workers on the Alabama Gulf Coast and is still relatively new to Mobile.
Companies of different sizes and different ages. But they all make things and on Tuesday each was recognized as the best in what each makes during the annual Manufacturer of the Year Awards.

Toyota thinks this boxy SUV is the car ‘Generation Z’ will want to drive

Toyota wants to target the next generation of car buyers with an odd-looking, highly customizable, electric SUV.
Students at Clemson University partnered with Toyota to design a car geared towards Generation Z, which is the age group born after the Millennials. (Ages of five to 19.)
The concept car, called the uBox, is geared toward young entrepreneurs who want “a vehicle that can provide utility and recreation on the weekend, but that can also offer office space or other career-centric or lifestyle uses during the week,” Toyota said in a press statement.

Alabama Robotics Park Phase 3 center readies for training

TANNER, Alabama – There’s a new state-of-the-art tool in Alabama’s worker training efforts.
Gov. Robert Bentley and other officials today are cutting the ribbon on Phase 3 of the Robotics Technology Park, an $80 million, 85-acre campus in Limestone County where employees from Alabama companies receive training on the latest equipment from top industrial robot makers and automation software firms.
