Study: Boeing contributes about $2.2 billion to Alabama economy

The Boeing Company is responsible for more than $2 billion in economic impact to Alabama, according to a study from the University of Alabama’s Center for Business and Economic Research.
That figure, coming in the company’s 100th year of business, is just the surface, however. Jim Chilton, president of Boeing’s Network and Space Systems, said Boeing has made a longterm investment in Alabama and Huntsville.
“We have a talent base and a set of facilities that have a role in almost anything Boeing chooses to do nationally,” he said.

Alabama earns Top 10 spot in State Business Climate rankings

MONTGOMERY, Alabama – Site Selection, an economic development-focused publication, ranked Alabama in the Top 10 in its annual State Business Climate survey, based largely on feedback from corporate real estate executives and project activity.
Alabama placed No. 9 in the magazine’s overall 2016 State Business Climate rankings, and No. 8 in the survey of corporate site selectors who were asked to rank the states based on their experience of locating facilities.

Alabama plant helps Hyundai buck trend

Hyundai’s sales rose at about the same rate that auto sales as a whole declined in October, according to industry reports.
The South Korean automaker this week reported a record month for North American sales, with sales up 4.2 percent over last year.
