Brian Tucker is a Research Scientist in the Office for Operational Excellence at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Mr. Tucker is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Certified SCOR Professional with a wide range of experience in the commercial and government sectors. In his 22 years of manufacturing and supply chain experience, Mr. Tucker has served in roles including industrial engineer, quality engineer, manufacturing engineer, operations manager, technical services manager, supply chain area lead and lean six sigma trainer and facilitator.
Mr. Tucker has trained and assisted numerous personnel at all levels of various organizations in continuous improvement, lean deployment, six sigma projects and enterprise level, and strategic operational excellence. Industries supported include appliance manufacturing, metals smelting and casting, automotive, forestry and wood products, aerospace and defense, and healthcare. More recent experience includes providing enterprise supply chain management support and solutions for Department of Defense and NASA, as well as operational excellence support by applying lean concepts to manufacturing and business processes within commercial industries, the US Army, Missile Defense Agency, Department of Energy and healthcare industries.
Mr. Tucker has a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Systems Engineering from UAH. In addition to Lean Six Sigma and SCOR certifications, he is also a certified Green Generalists from Purdue University. He has received certifications in EdNet Lean Healthcare Simulation, Fundamentals of Finance and Accounting. Mr. Tucker has served as a certified ISO 9000 Auditor, has completed Lean Enterprise Series from UAH, and has direct experience with the DuPont STOP safety program, ISO 14001, TS16949, and specific lean concepts, such as enterprise value stream mapping, problem solving, root cause analysis, 5S, SMED, TPM and Lean Office.
