Motors

Motors are everywhere (e.g. fans in HVAC systems, pumps, conveyors, any equipment that moves/turns, etc.) so we have big opportunities to save energy.  Per the U.S. Dept of Energy (DOE), about 50% of U.S. electricity (homes & businesses) flows through motors, and 64% of electricity in industry (manufacturers, etc.) is for motors.  Big opportunities exist for reducing energy usage by proper selection and maintenance of motors.  Topics covered include drive belt selection, the benefits of adjustable speed drive, why motors should be replaced, not re-wound, when to replace with NEMA high efficiency motors, 15 Motor Energy-saving Tips, and 20 Ways to Improve Motor & Drive System Efficiency.
