More than a million: Alabama automakers hit key milestone in record year

Alabama’s three automakers combined to produce more than 1 million vehicles last year, the largest annual production total in the history of the state industry.
Hyundai, Honda and Mercedes-Benz collectively turned out at least 1,033,905 vehicles during 2015, according to the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama.
Hyundai led the way with 384,519 sedans and compacts at its Montgomery plant, while Honda’s Talladega County operation followed with 349,386 SUVs and minivans.

SpaceX Will Attempt Ocean Landing of Rocket on Sunday

MIAMI-SpaceX will try again Sunday to land its Falcon 9 rocket on an ocean platform, one month after successfully returning the rocket’s first stage to an upright landing on solid ground.
Previous attempts to set down the rocket’s first stage on a floating barge in the Atlantic Ocean have failed, but the California-based company will try again on January 17, a spokesman confirmed.
This time, the Falcon 9 will launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Would Dr. Deming Have Been a Black Belt?

If Dr. Deming were alive today, would he embrace being a certified Six Sigma Black Belt (or in his case a Master Black Belt)? The answer to this question is impossible to know for certain. However, there are several clues in his teachings that could help shape opinions on what the answer might be.
Dr. W. Edwards Deming was first and foremost a statistician.
