AlabamaSAVES Energy Loan Program Successful in 2013

AlabamaSAVES Energy Loan Program Successful in 2013

Alabama Businesses Make Upgrades to Save Energy & Reduce Operating Expenses using Loan program

Dear State of Alabama Commercial and Industrial Businesses:

As we start into the new year, we would like to first thank those who made 2013 such a successful year for the AlabamaSAVES program, and second remind everyone in the energy efficiency community of the availability of low cost funding through the program for their 2014 commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects located in Alabama.  In 2013, the program closed 19 loans, totaling over $15 million in financing, with the energy conservation measures ranging from lighting retrofits, HVAC and controls upgrades, new roofing, water conservation devices, and solar PV installations.  The program has strong momentum going into 2014 with over $30 million in funding capacity remaining.  With the prospect of an increasing interest rate environment, now is the time to lock in the low cost funding available through the program.

We look forward to extending the Program’s success into 2014 and would like to learn of any commercial or industrial energy efficiency projects in Alabama that you or your team may be aware of.  If there are any, we would be glad to discuss and/or we invite you to encourage the project to submit for financing through the program.

We look forward to working with you and your organization to further the success of commercial and industrial energy efficiency in the State of Alabama.

Potential Economic Growth coming for new I-565 Interchange CMER Director Says

Potential Economic Growth coming for new I-565 Interchange CMER Director Says

Construction of a new interchange between Interstate 565 and County Line Road could boost growth and property prices in an already fast-growing part of the Tennessee Valley, according to an expert (CMER Director Jeff Thompson) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

“It’s certainly a prime location because of the visibility of that interchange as well as the growth that we’re seeing west of there,” said Jeff Thompson, Director of the UAH Center for Management and Economic Research. “So I think it’s an important link to the northwest section of Madison County, Limestone County, as well as south toward the river.”

On Wednesday, Governor Robert Bentley, along with Madison Mayor Troy Trulock, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, Madison County Commission Chairman Dale Strong and other dignitaries, formally broke ground on the long awaited $17 million interchange.

The interchange will allow access from I-565 westbound to County Line Road and from County Line Road to 565 eastbound. County Line already has ramps to and from I-565 to the west.
